I submitted a paper to the Ubicomp 2009 conference this past Friday. The hours leading to a paper submission can be very stressful. The night after the deadline, I had a dream where I realized that I had forgotten to edit out a specific phrase from the abstract of my submission. I woke up in a state of panic, jumping out of bed to grab my laptop. As I was reaching for the power button, it dawned on me that I would never use the phrase “in this fucking paper we describe…” in even the earliest draft of any serious document I produce. Don’t you just love those long sighs of relief after you realize it was all just a dream?
The paper is called “Getting Places: Collaborative Predictions from Status.” The last two days before the deadline were very very hectic. I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am to Don for all his help, specially with everything that was going on for him. I’m also thankful to Gillian for her support and advice, and to my friends in the LUCI lab and STAR team.
